Inspiration: Fall Styles

It's officially fall, so happy autumn! Before I become sad by the soon-to-come cold weather, I'm going to look forward to all the cute things I want to wear:

1. Super-High Socks: Sometimes tights get boring, so cute knee-high socks can be a good substitute! stefaniekuncman looks super cute with her skirt and sock combo!

2. Baggy Sweater + Shorts: viewsofnow's summer-y high-waisted shorts look cozy for fall with her cute sweater!

3. Bows on Blouses: I want to make some bows attached to pins to make my blouses fancier, like dixieleota's!

4. Girl Ties: I really like AnnikaVictoria's tie! I managed to make my own, so maybe I'll post it later :-)

5. Baggy Cardigans: kisforkani's cardigan is such an adorable color and it looks super cozy!

I hope everyone's weekend was lovely and that this week goes by fast! :-)

I made a dress! (And almost killed my camera...)

I'm so proud of myself!

I have successfully made my first dress!

Dress: DIY
Collar: Ebay
 Socks: Forever 21
 Oxfords: Target

I spent the better half of an hour taking these pictures. It really shouldn't have taken that long, but I had to take them myself... I like the idea of doing outfit posts, but upon shooting these photos, I realized that I really need a tripod and remote. My "tripod" consisted of a box upon a stool upon a table. And I had to do auto focus so I could just press the button and run in front of the camera. I hate auto focus because it's blurry. Oh, and also, my camera fell, but it survived :-) B) I feel awkward taking pictures of myself. I wish I was photogenic...

Anyways, making a dress was the most frustrating/fun thing to do. It took me a long time, and I ended up hating the pattern. I made the bodice first, and it looked all boxy, so I chose to fix it and then make my own skirt and sleeve patterns.

I got tons of compliments and people were impressed that I made it! I think dressmaking might become a regular thing for me ;-) (And I have another dress in progress now!)

What's the most awesome thing you've ever made?

New Stuff: Back-to-School

I think I've gotten most of my back-to-school shopping done (sadly). Compared to previous years, I've found so many more awesome things, like:

1. Intarsia Star Sweater: (Buy it here.
Where: Target
How Much: $17 (on sale)
I was sooo excited when I saw these sweaters at Target! It was between this one and a gray one with an owl on it. I decided on this one because it's my favorite color and I love star-printed stuff! The gray one also looked too similar to my sheep sweater from Forever 21 last year.

2. Chambray Button Down Blouse:
Where: Macy's
How Much: $5 (Yay, clearance!)
I knew that I wanted to get a chambray blouse for fall and was eyeing one at American Eagle for like $40. This one was perfect for me: cheap and cute!

3. Rabbit-Print Peter Pan Collar Top:
Where: H&M
How Much: $10 (Sale!)
Ever since I bought a Peter Pan collar dress from Forever 21 last year, I've been soo in love with Peter Pan collars. And this top had bunnies, so I had to get it!

4. Peter Pan Collar Button Back Top:
Where: Forever 21
How Much: $19.80
My mom was the one to pick this out, and I absolutely adore it. I think this is my favorite thing I bought this year. That always happens when she picks out stuff for me!

5. Corduroy Pants: (buy it here.)
Where: Target
How Much: $22.99
My favorite color for fall is mustard yellow. I also have a strange love for anything corduroy. These were right up my alley!

6. High-Waisted Lace Shorts
Where: TJ Maxx
How Much: $14.99
I love anything high-waisted at the moment along with anything lacey. I've been wanting a pair of lace shorts to wear tights under for fall, and these were a perfect price.

7. Ditsy Apple Collar Dress w/ Belt:
Where: Forever 21
How Much: $24.80
This dress reminded me of a vintage dress I found in the closet of my house from when I was little. It fit as a top, but was waaay too short to be an actual dress. This dress made me feel less sad about that!

8. Piqué Full Woven Skirt: (Buy it here.)
Where: American Apparel
How Much: $16
I wanted a basic and plain skirt but everywhere I went, they seemed cheap. This skirt was perfect for summer, but with tights it'll be cozy for fall.

9. Polka Dot Box Pleat Dress:
Where: TJ Maxx
How Much: $7 (Yay!)
I saw this on the clearance rack and got super duper happy. Even though it's a size too big, I bought it, cause it was so cheap and gosh darn adorable.

10. Corduroy Button Front Skirts:
Where: Forever 21
How Much: 2/$6.99
These were buy one get one free, so I picked up the magenta one along with the gray one. It's cute, but it might be too similar to my hair. Haha!

11. Tassel Oxford/Loafers:
Where: TJ Maxx
How Much: $24.99
I've been looking for cute black-and-white oxfords for a while, and thought these loafers were a cute substitution! I love the tassels! :-)

12. Collared Polka Dot Dress: (Buy it here.)
Where: Forever 21
How Much: $22.80
This dress was on my wishlist and I managed to find it in stores! I also bought a pastel pink bow belt to wear with it. So excited!

13. Arizona Dacey Combat Boots: (Buy it here.)
Where: JC Penny
How Much: $35
I bought some brown ones awhile back from Target, and wanted some black ones that were a little bit shorter. These were the perfect height! They also made me like JC Penny again after not shopping there for so long.

14. Ditsy Dandelion Fit & Flare Dress:
Where: Forever 21
How Much: $24.80
This was one of my pins on Pinterest! I never thought that I would find it in stores since the Forever 21 I usually go to didn't have it. I went to a whole different mall and found it. So vintage-y and bright!

Even though I really dislike school, wearing these cute finds makes me dread it a little bit less. What did you buy for back to school?

Back-to-School Wishlist

It's the day before August... This only means one thing to me: School starts soon. Along with being reluctant to go back, I still have my summer assignments to complete AND I also have to arrange my college class to take this year. Seriously, the only thing getting me through this is the excuse to buy a ton of things for back-to-school, so here are a few of my favorites:

1. Patent Leather Boots: A long time ago, I saw pink ones at Wal-Mart for super cheap, like $13. At the time, I was too self-conscious to wear anything super wacky like that. I deeply regret passing them up, but I think I'll be able to find some easily soon.

2. A Black-and-White Dress: I once saw a dress in the window of Charlotte Russe similar to this one paired with a mint belt. I'm a sucker for both mint and polka dots! :-)

3. Circle Skirts: The way these skirts drape down is just so lovely. I've debated making one, but the amount of material would be ridiculous, so buying is a much easier (and mayber even cheaper) alternative. And this one is corduroy!

4. Glitter Oxfords: These have been on my wishlist for a while now. I can't seem to find the perfect ones since I want rainbow glitter. A DIY is in order, maybe? (I also just got a pair of oxfords I don't like very much for super cheap :-) )

5. Polka Dot Tights: I have the perfect vintage dress to pair these with along with my brown oxfords and lace socks. Once I finish reworking the dress, hopefully I'll get a pair of these tights.

6. Midi-Length Skirt: I've never been a fan of maxi skirts, and sometimes short skirts seem awkward in the winter. This length looks so old-fashioned and adorable that I'm a fan!

What are some of your favorite pieces for back-to-school?

5 Summer Styles I Love

Whenever I go onto the computer, even if it's just for homework I always find myself looking at clothing online from my favorite stores or looking at fashion inspiration on Chictopia.com. Here are five of my favorites that I've been seeing everywhere!

Tie Hem Shirts: I love how a regular, old blouse can turn summer-y by simply tying the hem! A friend of mine gave me a bunch of her great-grandmother's old blouses, and I didn't think I could really ever wear them because they were so bright. Now, I think I'm just going to cut off the sleeves and tie the hems!

Bustier Tops: These look so feminine and pretty. Though they do kind of look like underwear, when paired with the right things, they look adorable!

High Waisted Shorts: I never really thought high waisted shorts were really that cute until rather recently. I used to be into low-rise, but now I think high waisted shorts are comfier (and cuter!) because you won't need to worry about showing a plumber's crack ;-)

Cute Collars: Peter Pan collars used to be my favorite thing, but lately I've seeing a bunch of other kinds, like sailor ones! How cute is this one?

Clunky Shoes: Even though I can barely walk in wedges, I'm in love with the way clunky shoes look with shorts and skirts!

Even though it's not officially summer yet, I feel so excited to get tons more of summer clothes! Doesn't the warm weather being so near make you excited? :-)
